Content Enablement

Content Hub is the AI content management
layer for Google Drive

Google Drive is a file storage and generation system. The SalesVault Content Hub is a
content management layer. These are complementary things — which most teams need to
realize before it's too late.

Google Drive is an excellent product for what it was designed to do: generate files, store files and share them across an organization. It was not explicitly designed to enable a sales and revenue team find the right one-pager for a buyer in a vertical they've never sold into before, during a live call, in under 30 seconds. Those are different problems.

Most sales and revenue organizations are using Google Drive as their content system — because it's already there, it's convenient, IT approved it, and because they've built elaborate folder structures trying to make it do something it wasn't built for. What it lacks is an active content management layer.

The SalesVault Content Hub built for AI content management is not just Google Drive with better folders. It's a content management layer with a specific set of design goals, meant to auto-sync and auto-update all content at an organizational or team level from any number of content sources, ensure the right access, as well as auto-tag, auto-categorize and auto-organize the content for any team member to search, find and surface for the right deal, and at the right moment, without worrying about where to start or look. And it works best with Google Drive.

Why Google Drive is not an ideal content management tool

Google Drive's native search is keyword-based. And it works brilliantly, but in that individual's Google Drive or an intermittently updated Shared Drive. The critical point is this: you have to know what to search for. What happens when a new team member with an empty Google Drive doesn't explicitly know what to search for? When a seller just wants a content section dedicated only to product content always ready and waiting? When team members expect to see only the latest updated content versions and not 'v3.5_UPDATED_NEW' created by someone who left the company 9 months ago? Google Drive search returns content files that match keywords, but not files that match real-life situations in sales, customer, revenue, product or marketing.

The content graveyard problem
A substantial portion of B2B sales content investment is never used by the sales or customer teams. Not because it's bad content, but because it's undiscoverable. Content files created in a burst of product marketing or sales consultant or enablement energy get filed in someone's Google Drive, announced in a Slack message, and then silently forgotten. The next time a seller needs that content, they either create something from scratch (inconsistent) or use an outdated version from their individual Google Drive (not ideal). The content graveyard is not a content quality problem. It is a content discoverability problem.

Google Drive and the SalesVault Content Hub

It's easy to fall into the trap of pitting Google Drive against the SalesVault Content Hub. But in reality they are incredibly complementary tools, which, when used together in the right way, become a powerful enabler for all sales and revenue teams on Google Workspace.

1

Google Drive → Content Source → Content Hub

Google Drive is the primary content source for the SalesVault Content Hub. Syncing Google Drives and Shared Drives across multiple accounts within the same organization into the same Content Hub is what leads to a unified and AI-powered sales content management layer.

2

Auto-tag, categorize and organize with the Content Hub

Google Drive shows you what you have created, uploaded and what is shared with you. Shared Drives have folders built for content that might not even be relevant. When Drive content files are synced, the SalesVault Content Hub auto-tags (with product, industry, content type, buyer stage and access tags), auto-categorizes and auto-organizes your organizational content into predefined Vault categories and team Vaults, which are always auto-updated.

3

Content Hub → Vaults: Individual vs. Team with governance controls

SalesVault distinguishes between individual Vaults (a team member's individual synced content, google add-on content, proposals, plays, deal rooms and value calculators) and Team Vaults (approved, governed and centralized content visible to the whole team or specific groups). All permissions within synced Google Drive content files are followed and maintained within the SalesVault Content Hub, with no exceptions.

4

Content Hub → A home for non-Drive content

What if key organizational content is stored on devices? What if the sales teams depended on product, onboarding, implementation, integration and other videos from different YouTube channels? The SalesVault Content Hub can, apart from syncing Google drive content, also sync and consolidate device-based content and YouTube videos across any number of channels, to give the team a full content ecosystem in one place.

SalesVault Content Links: Closing the tracking loop

Google Drive can tell you when and by whom a file was created, opened, edited or removed. With Content Links, which are generated from content files in the Content Hub, SalesVault can tell you which content links were shared in active deals, which buyers viewed the content / for how long / in which section, how many buyer engagements (shares, likes, comments, downloads) the content link accrued, and which content is used by top performers but not by the rest of the team. You need the Content Hub to tell you what happens when your sales content leaves the building, whether sent as a content link attached to an email, or over chat, or messaging apps or via a Deal Room. A content file shared into the void doesn't talk back.

What content link analytics tells you that Google Drive cannot
  • Which buyer stakeholders are engaging with the content link with likes / comments (and not just who the seller sent it to)
  • How long each lead / prospect / buyer / stakeholder spent on each content link (proxy for interest and concern)
  • Whether the content link was downloaded or shared by the buyer team (signal of interest and internal advocacy)
  • When to re-engage with the buyer team when you know how and when they engaged with the content link (deal flow timing)
  • Which content link correlates with Closed-Won deals that vs. Closed-Lost deals (with CRM integrations)

The bottom line

The synergy between Google Drive to a Content Hub is undeniable — it's an enablement multiplier and a capability upgrade for any organization with 2-50 team members in sales and customer roles who need the right content at the right time and in the right place, every time. Backed by Google Drive, the SalesVault Content Hub operates as the AI content management layer: discovery, relevance, analytics, governance, and AI search. Most teams running Google Drive-only content systems are on the right track, but to win consistently, they need to add this AI content management layer.
